For this solution, you will need a small bowl of warm water and a few drops of gentle dishwashing liquid. Start by submerging the stained area of pillow in soapy water. After letting it soak for a few minutes, gently rub the stained area with both hands. You should start to see the stain lifting away. If necessary, reapply the dish soap to the area and continue rubbing. Once the stain is completely gone, rinse the pillow in clean water. You can pat the pillow with a clean cloth or towel to absorb any excess moisture before laying it out to air dry.
Club soda is an effective way to dissolve and remove oil stains quickly. Apply the club soda directly to the stained area of the pillow and let it sit for about 15 minutes. Next, take a paper towel or damp washcloth and gently rub the area in circular motions. The stain should come out with a few wipes. To finish, use a clean cloth to remove any remaining liquid and leave the pillow to air dry.
For stubborn oil stains, a combination of baking soda and white vinegar may provide the best results. Start by sprinkling baking soda onto the stained area and then spray with white vinegar. The mixture will bubble and foam as it works to dissolve stain. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes, then use a damp cloth or sponge to rub the area in circular motions. Continue until the stain is completely gone. As a final step, rinse the pillow thoroughly and then allow it to air dry.
