The first step to removing an oil stain is to lay pajamas flat on a table or countertop. Then, cover the stain with a thin layer of talcum powder or cornstarch. This will help absorb some of the oil. Let the powder sit on the stain for 15-20 minutes, and then brush it off using a soft bristled brush.
Next, mix liquid laundry detergent and warm water in a bowl to create a soapy mixture. Dip a sponge or cloth into the soapy mixture and begin scrubbing stain. You may need to use some elbow grease, but it’s important to be gentle to avoid damaging the fabric. Give the stain a few extra scrubs if it’s still stubbornly clinging on.
After scrubbing the stain, rinse the area with cold water. If the stain isn’t completely gone, repeat process until it’s completely removed. Once it’s gone, toss the pajamas into the washing machine with your usual detergent. Be sure to check your garment’s tag for instructions on what setting to wash it on.
If all else fails, you can always take your pajamas to the dry cleaners and have them professionally cleaned. However, the above steps should be sufficient to get those pesky oil stains out of your pajamas, making them look and feel as good as new.
