Step 1: Start by Pre-Treating

If you're in a rush, pre-treating any fabric spots with laundry detergent or homemade oxygen bleach is a great place to start. Simply mix up the detergent and water according to instructions, and apply it directly to the stain. Allow the mixture to sit for 10 minutes before rinsing off.

Step 2: Soak the Mask

If you have time, soaking the stained fabric in laundry detergent and ice-cold water can work wonders at getting rid of deep-seated oils. The best way to go about this is to fill a bucket or sink with cold water, add a tablespoon of detergent, and stir until it's fully dissolved. Submerge the mask and let it soak overnight, or at least 4-6 hours.

Step 3: Hand Wash or Machine Wash

Finally, after the pre-treating and soaking processes, you'll need to give the mask one final cleaning. Depending on how delicate material is, you may want to do this by hand. Just mix a bit of detergent and water together, and scrub away at the stains until they are gone.

For tougher fabrics, you can place the mask in the washing machine set to the gentle cycle, using a mild detergent. Once it's done, air dry mask and voila – your scissors oil stains will be all gone!
