Oil stains from scissors are especially sticky and sometimes hard to remove. To make sure that you get oil out of your favorite clothing without damaging the fabric, use these simple steps.

  • Begin by rubbing a small amount of dish soap into the affected area. Let the soap sit for a few minutes.
  • Fill a sink or tub with warm water and add a ½ cup of baking soda. Soak the clothing in solution for 10-15 minutes.
  • After the garment has soaked, gently rub the soiled area between your fingers.
  • If the oil stain persists, mix together 1 teaspoon of salt and 1 tablespoon of white vinegar. Rub the mixture onto the stain and let it sit for a few minutes.
  • Once the mixture has had time to set, rinse garment in cold water.
  • Finally, wash the garment according to its care instructions.

With this simple method, you can easily remove those pesky scissors oil stains and save your favorite jacket!
