Step 1: Prepare the Cleaning Solution

Mix equal parts dish soap and baking soda into a bowl of warm water. You'll need enough solution to completely submerge the blades of your scissors.

Step 2: Soak the Scissors

Submerge the blades of scissors into the cleaning solution. Allow them to sit for at least 20 minutes, although you may want to leave them there for up to an hour for tougher stains.

Step 3: Wipe Away the Residue

Lift the scissors out of the cleaning solution and use a soft cloth or sponge to gently scrub away any remaining residue. Make sure to pay extra attention to the grooves in the blades, which may have collected more oil than the rest of blade.

Step 4: Dry the Blades

Once all the residue has been removed, use a clean cloth to dry blades. Pay special attention to wiping away any excess moisture, as this can corrode the blades if left damp.

Step 5: Sharpen the Blades

Finally, use a fine grit sharpening stone or file to re-sharpen the blades. This will help restore their cutting ability and make sure that they stay clean for longer.

With these simple steps, you can easily clean oil stains off of your HM scissors and keep them looking sharp and clean.
