Guipure lace, also known as Venetian or Brussels lace, is an intricate type of lace fabric featuring a variety of large motifs with few or no connecting threads. The open mesh of the fabric makes it highly susceptible to oil stains from scissors, which can be difficult to remove without leaving a greasy residue.
The most effective method for cleaning oil stains from guipure lace fabric is to use a combination of baking soda, cornstarch, and water. Start by mixing 1 tablespoon each of baking soda and cornstarch in a glass bowl. Add enough water to make a paste, then use it to cover the stain completely. Let the paste sit for a few hours, allowing the baking soda and cornstarch to absorb the oil. Once the paste has dried, brush off the excess powder. You should see the oil stain fading away! Finally, rinse the fabric with cold water to remove any remaining residue.
If above method does not work, you may want to try using dishwashing detergent or white vinegar. For dishwashing detergent, mix 1 teaspoon of detergent in 2 cups of cold water. Soak the stained fabric in the solution for 15-20 minutes before rinsing with cold water. For white vinegar, mix 1 cup of vinegar in 2 cups of cold water, and soak the fabric for 15-20 minutes before rinsing with cold water.
