  • White vinegar
  • Toothbrush
  • Dry cloth
  • Baking soda
  • Ammonia

Steps to Remove Scissors Oil Stains from Formalwear

  1. Mix equal parts white vinegar and club soda in a bowl.
  2. Soak a clean toothbrush in the mixture and apply it to the stain.
  3. Gently brush the stain - avoid scrubbing too hard.
  4. Rinse with cold water.
  5. Use a dry cloth to dab away any remaining moisture.
  6. Sprinkle baking soda over the wet stain and let sit for at least an hour.
  7. Vacuum off the baking soda. At this point you may find that stain is gone.
  8. If the stain is still visible, mix 1 teaspoon ammonia with 1 cup of warm water and use a cloth to dab at the stained area. Rinse again with cold water.
  9. Let the piece of clothing air dry.

Tips for Removing Scissors Oil Stains from Formalwear

  • Make sure to test any of the cleaning solutions on a hidden seam or other area of the fabric first.
  • Be careful not to rub or scrub the fabric harshly as this may damage it.
