Scissors oil stains can be among the most difficult stains to remove. But with the right approach, and some patience, it is possible. Here are a few simple steps that you can follow to get your dress clean and looking like new again:

  1. Begin by gently scraping off any excess oil with a soft cloth.
  2. Take a teaspoon of a gentle liquid detergent and mix it with a cup of cold water. Dip your cloth into the solution and apply it to the stain.
  3. With your fingertips, gently but firmly massage in the detergent solution.
  4. Rinse thoroughly using cold water once the stain has been broken up.
  5. Repeat steps 2-4 as necessary until stain is completely removed.
  6. If stain remains, lightly sprinkle some talcum powder over the area and leave it overnight.
  7. In the morning, brush off talcum powder and dry your dress with a clean towel.

If the above method doesn’t work, there are other approaches you can try. One of them involves using rubbing alcohol or white vinegar and water. Apply the solution directly to the stain and dab gently with a cloth. You can also try using spot remover or laundry pre-treatment products.

Even though above methods are typically effective for removing scissor oil stains from dresses, remember to always carefully read label of any product that you use. This will help ensure that the product is suitable for the fabric of your dress.
