Crepe is a type of lightweight, crinkly cloth fabric made of silk, rayon, wool, or other fibers. It's known for its wrinkled, crinkly texture and opaque color. It's also highly susceptible to stains, especially oil stains, so it's important to know how to clean them.
Step 1: Gently Blot the Stain
The first step to removing scissors oil stains from crepe is to gently blot the area with a dry cloth. Do not rub the area as this may cause the stain to spread. If the stain has already spread, try to pick up as much of it as possible before moving on to the next step.
Step 2: Create a Vinegar Solution
Mix equal parts white vinegar and warm water in a bowl. Then dip a cloth into the solution and gently dab the stained area. Make sure not to scrub or rub the stain as this could cause it to spread further. After dabbing area, let the vinegar solution sit on the stain for 15-20 minutes.
Step 3: Wash the Fabric
Once the solution has had time to work, turn fabric inside out and put it in the washing machine. Use cold water and a mild detergent. When cycle is finished, remove the fabric and inspect stain. If the stain is still present, repeat steps 1 and 2 before washing again.
