If you've ever had the misfortune of getting scissors oil stains on your Cornelli lace fabric, you know how difficult they can be to clean. The fine, detailed patterns of Cornelli lace make it even more challenging to remove. But don't fret – here's a quick and easy method for removing oil stains from Cornelli lace.
The first step in removing an oil stain from Cornelli lace is absorbing as much of the oil as possible. Place a paper towel or absorbent cloth over the stain and press down gently to blot away the oil. Be sure not to rub – simply press and lift the towel away to avoid spreading oil further.
Mix one tablespoon of liquid laundry detergent with two cups of warm water. Swish to create a soapy solution. Dip a sponge or soft cloth into the solution and lightly dab the stain. Blot the area with a dry absorbent cloth after each dab.
Mix one tablespoon of white vinegar with two cups of warm water. Dab this solution onto the stain using a sponge or soft cloth. Blot area with a dry cloth after each dab. Finally, rinse the area with cool water. Allow the fabric to air dry.
If any oil stains remain, repeat Steps 2 and 3 until the stain is gone. If all else fails, try using a mild bleach solution (1 teaspoon of bleach to 1 quart of water) on the stain, making sure not to saturate fabric. Blot the area with a dry cloth afterwards and air dry.
