Step 1: Blot with Paper Towel

The first step in removing scissors oil stains is to try blotting the stain with paper towels. This will help absorb some of oil and prevent it from spreading. Be sure to only blot, as scrubbing will just push the oil deeper into the fabric.

Step 2: Pre-Treat with Detergent

Once you’ve blotted up as much oil as possible, you can pre-treat the stain with detergent. Use a laundry detergent that is specifically designed for oil stains, as this will help break up the oil and make it easier to remove. Apply the detergent directly onto the stain and let it sit for a few minutes before laundering.

Step 3: Wash in Hot Water

When it comes to washing collared shirts, hot water is key. Place garment in hot water and allow it to soak for at least 15 minutes. Hot water helps break up the oils in the stain and allows the detergent to penetrate deeper into the fabric and work its magic. After soaking, wash your shirt as usual.

Step 4: Repeat if Necessary

If the stain isn’t fully gone after the first wash, don’t worry! Just repeat steps above to ensure that the stain is completely removed.
