When it comes to removing oil stains from chiffon fabric, the key is to act quickly. As soon as the stain appears, blot oil with a cloth or paper towel and then rinse with cold water. Once the area is rinsed, sprinkle talcum powder on stain, leave it for several minutes, and gently brush it away.
If stain persists, prepare a mixture of equal parts white vinegar, natural dish soap and warm water. Soak a soft brush into mixture and then use it to gently scrub the stain. Let the mixture sit for at least 10 minutes, and then rinse with cold water. Repeat the process until stain is gone.
If you still can’t remove the stubborn oil stain from your chiffon fabric, try blotting the stain with rubbing alcohol. Then, apply a small amount of baking soda on area and let it sit for 30 minutes. After the baking soda has soaked into fabric, rinse with cold water and the stain should be gone.
Finally, if all else fails, take chiffon item to a professional dry cleaner who can remove the stain using special techniques and products that are not available to the average consumer.
