Having a stain on your favorite clothing item can be extremely disheartening, especially when it seems impossible to remove. Scissor oil stains are particularly tricky because they seep into fabrics, leaving a greasy residue. But don’t worry – it is possible to remove them with a few household items and some patience.
What You'll Need
- Liquid dish soap
- White vinegar
- Baking soda
- Soft toothbrush
Instructions
- Start by wetting the stained area with warm water.
- Squeeze a few drops of liquid dish soap onto the stain and use a soft toothbrush to gently scrub the area.
- Rinse the area with warm water until the soap has been completely removed.
- Mix equal parts white vinegar and warm water and apply the solution to the stained area.
- Allow the solution to sit for 10-15 minutes, then rinse the area with warm water.
- If the stain remains, try sprinkling baking soda onto the area and using a toothbrush to scrub the area in circular motions. Rinse the area with warm water.
- If stain still persists, repeat steps again.
Things to Keep in Mind
- Remember to use cold water only when rinsing the stained area, as hot water may cause the oil to seep deeper into fabric’s fibers.
- Do not put the cardigan in a washing machine as this can cause permanent damage.
- After removing stain, use a fabric stain remover to completely eliminate all traces of the oil.
