Scissors oil stains on business suits can be difficult to remove, as they often require a combination of stain removal techniques. Follow this step-by-step guide to get suit-ready once again:
- Start by testing any cleaning solution on an inconspicuous area of the suit, such as the inside of the lapel or a seam. This will make sure that the solution won't cause any damage.
- Mix a solution of one part dish soap, two parts water and a few drops of vinegar. Dip a clean, white cloth into the mixture and blot the stained area with the cloth until it is saturated.
- Allow the solution to sit for 10 minutes. Rinse the stained area with cool water.
- If the stain still remains, mix a paste using baking soda and lukewarm water. Spread the paste over the stained area and let it sit for 15 minutes. Rinse the paste off with cool water.
- If the stain is still present, add a few drops of ammonia to the mixture. Use the same blotting technique described in Step 2. Once the stain is gone, rinse with cool water.
- After the stain has been removed, hang the suit up to dry. Do not put the suit in the dryer, as it may set the stain.
With proper care and attention, you should be able to remove any scissors oil stains from your business suit. If you are unable to remove the stain, then it's best to take it to a dry cleaner who specializes in dealing with tough stains.
