What You’ll Need

  • Lemon juice
  • Baking soda
  • Hydrogen peroxide
  • White vinegar
  • Paper towels
  • Old rag or cloth
  • Laundry detergent

Instructions

1. Try Lemon Juice

Lemon juice is a great natural solution for removing oil stains from fabric. Start by dabbing the stain with a paper towel drenched in lemon juice. Allow it to soak for about 5 minutes before rinsing off with cold water. If the stain is still visible, try the next step.

2. Baking Soda and Hydrogen Peroxide Mix

Mix equal parts baking soda and hydrogen peroxide together to form a paste. Apply the paste directly onto the stain and let sit for 10-15 minutes. Take an old rag or cloth and rub the paste into stain gently. Rinse off with cold water and check the stain. Repeat if needed.

3. White Vinegar

White vinegar is another great natural cleaning agent for stubborn oil stains. Dab the stain with paper towels soaked in white vinegar and allow it to sit for a few minutes. Rub the fabric gently and rinse off with cold water. Repeat if needed.

4. Laundry Detergent

If all else fails, laundry detergent can help get rid of tough oil stains. Put a small amount of detergent onto stain and scrub with a toothbrush. Let sit for a few minutes before rinsing off with cold water. Repeat if necessary.

Tips

  • Always test a small area of the fabric first before using any solution on the stain.
  • Be sure the fabric is dry before heat setting the stain.
  • If possible, try to act quickly when dealing with oil stains.
