Step 1: Blot Up the Oil Stain with a Rag

Use a damp washcloth to blot up as much of the scissors oil stain as possible. You want to absorb as much of the oil as you can before treating the fabric.

Step 2: Mix a Solution of Liquid Detergent and Water

Mix a solution of liquid detergent and water in a bowl. The proportion should be 1 teaspoon of detergent per 1 cup of cold water. Make sure to mix the ingredients thoroughly.

Step 3: Apply Solution to the Stain

Using a clean cloth, apply the detergent solution to the scissors oil stain in a circular motion. Press down firmly with each stroke so that the solution penetrates the fibers of the fabric.

Step 4: Rinse Area with Cold Water

Once you've applied the detergent solution to the stain, rinse the area with cold water. This will help remove any residue from the detergent.

Step 5: Launder the Garment as Usual

The final step is to launder garment as usual. You can throw it into the washing machine with a regular cycle. If stain is still visible after laundering, simply repeat the steps until the stain is gone.
