What You Will Need
- Dry dishcloth
- Dish detergent
- Absorbent paper towels or soft white cloths
- White vinegar
- Baking soda
- Old toothbrush
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Using a dry dishcloth, as soon as possible, blot the scissors oil stain to absorb all of the excess oil.
- Rub a small amount of dish detergent into the stain, then use a damp cloth to gently scrub the area. Be sure to never rub too hard and always use a non-abrasive cleaner or cloth.
- Once the detergent has been worked into the area rug, rinse with cold water and blot dry with absorbent paper towels or soft white cloths.
- Mix ¼ cup of white vinegar with one teaspoon of baking soda and let this mixture sit on the stain for up to 15 minutes.
- Using an old toothbrush, lightly scrub the stained area.
- Rinse the area with cold water and blot dry with absorbent paper towels or soft white cloths.
- If the stain still remains, repeat steps 5 through 7 until stain is removed.
