When scissors oil gets on your anorak, it can feel like a hopeless situation. Not only is oil hard to remove in general, but when it comes to delicate fabrics like the fabrics used in anoraks, it can be especially difficult to remove. Fortunately, with some patience and the right cleaning methods and materials, you can make scissors oil stains a thing of the past.

What You’ll Need

  • Dish soap
  • Clean cloth/sponge
  • Can of soft drink
  • White or apple cider vinegar
  • Ammonia
  • Oxi-clean powder

Cleaning Steps

  1. Start by dabbing stained area with a clean cloth or sponge and some dish soap. Rub gently to help remove as much of the affected area as possible.
  2. If necessary, you can use a can of soft drink to further remove stains. Soak a clean cloth in the soda and dab the stain with cloth. Do not scrub, as this may cause the fabric to fray.
  3. Afterwards, mix 1 teaspoon of white or apple cider vinegar with 1 cup of water in a bowl. Dip a new cloth into the solution and dab the affected area. Rinse the fabric with cool water.
  4. If the stain persists, try mixing 1 teaspoon of ammonia with 1 cup of warm water. Dab the mixture onto the stain and rinse with cool water.
  5. For a deep-cleaning solution, mix 1 tablespoon of Oxi-clean powder with 1 cup of cold water. Dip a cloth in the solution and dab the stained area. Rinse area with cool water and let dry.

By following these steps, you'll be able to remove pesky scissors oil stains from your anorak. Keep in mind that the key to a successful cleanup is patience and the knowledge that you’ll be using the right cleaning methods and materials!
