When scissors oil gets on your acrylic, best thing to do is act fast. It’s much easier to remove oil stains when they’re fresh, so don’t wait until the stain has had time to set! Here are a few solutions that may work to help you out.
For this approach, you’ll need white vinegar, baking soda, and hot water. Start by mixing a solution of one part white vinegar and two parts hot water. Dip a microfiber cloth into the solution and squeeze out the excess liquid. Then, gently rub cloth onto oil stain on the acrylic. The vinegar should help loosen up the oil, making it easier to remove. Rinse off the surface with clean water and then sprinkle some baking soda over the area. Use a damp cloth to scrub the baking soda into the stain in a circular motion.
If above method doesn’t do the trick, you can try this one. Start by sprinkling some cornstarch over the oil stain, making sure to really pack it in. Leave the cornstarch on the stain overnight, and in morning wipe it away with a dry cloth. Sweeten the deal by adding a teaspoon of baking soda and a few drops of white vinegar to cornstarch before applying to the stain.
If neither of the above methods work, you may want to consider professional cleaning services. Many companies now offer specialized cleaning for acrylic surfaces that can safely and effectively remove even most stubborn oil stains. Be sure to do your research to find a company you can trust to do the job right.
