Removing Salad Dressing from Swimwear
- Act fast! As soon as you notice the stain, begin attempting to remove it.
- Dab away any excess salad dressing with a paper towel. It’s important not to rub or scrub the area, as that could spread stain and make it bigger.
- If the stain persists, try using a mixture of one part white vinegar and one part water. Apply the mixture with a clean cloth and dab the area until the stain has been removed.
- After applying the vinegar solution, if the stain still hasn’t gone away, use a laundry detergent that is specifically designed for delicate fabrics. Apply detergent to an old toothbrush and scrub in circular motions. Let it sit for five minutes, then rinse off the detergent.
- In event your clothes are washable, launder in your usual manner (using cold water only). If the item is dry clean only, take it to a professional cleaner and let them know what kind of stain they may be dealing with.
Additional Tips & Tricks
- If you’re at a barbecue or picnic and don’t have access to vinegar, try using lemon juice instead.
- When blotting the stain, try using a dry paper towel first, before resorting to wet solutions.
- If the fabric of your swimwear isn’t colorfast, be extra careful when cleaning and take special note if color has faded or run.
- If the stain isn’t completely gone, repeat the process until it is.
