Step 1: Skim the Dressing Out of the Pool

Grab a skimmer net and scoop out any excess salad dressing from the pool surface. Be sure to reach deep beneath the surface—oil is heavier than water, so it can sink and collect beneath the surface.

Step 2: Dry the Area with an Absorbent Material

Once you’ve skimmed out as much of the dressing as possible, use an absorbent cloth or towel to dry area of stain. This will help to prevent the stain from spreading further.

Step 3: Treat the Stain with a Commercial Stain Remover

Purchase a commercial stain remover that is safe to use with swimming pools. Follow directions of the product closely, as each product may have different application directions. For best results, allow the product to sit for a few minutes before scrubbing it into the fabric.

Step 4: Scrub the Stain with a Pool Brush

Scrub the stained area with a pool brush, being careful to not apply too much pressure to pool liner. Take care to move brush in a circular motion. After scrubbing the stain thoroughly, rinse the area with clean water.

Step 5: Test the Area for Further Cleaning

After treating and scrubbing the stain, try the area for any residual discoloration. If the area is still stained, repeat steps 2 through 5 until the stain is gone.
