Having some salad dressing stain your skirt is a drag. But don't worry, in most cases you can remove the stain with a few simple steps.

Step 1: Quickly Blot Away Excess Dressing

If you notice the salad dressing stain shortly after it happens, the best thing to do is to quickly blot the area with a paper towel or cloth napkin. Work from the outside of the stain towards the center to avoid spreading stain farther. Avoid rubbing or scrubbing the area.

Step 2: Pretreat With Shaving Foam or Detergent Before Washing

Both foam shaving cream and liquid laundry detergent are great at pre-treating salad dressing stains before washing. Apply either of these products to the stain, and allow them to soak in for around 5-10 minutes.

Step 3: Gently Brush The Stain

Once the shaving foam or detergent has had a chance to work on the stain, gently brush the area with a soft toothbrush or similar cleaning utensil. This will help to loosen any remaining salad dressing bits.

Step 4: Wash The Skirt

Wash the skirt as usual in your washing machine. If possible, select a cold water wash to avoid setting the stain. Retreat the stain with shaving foam or detergent once more if necessary.

Step 5: Air Dry The Skirt

Hang the skirt up to air dry instead of using a dryer, as the heat may set any remaining stain.
