5 Simple Steps To Easily Remove Salad Dressing Stains From Silk Tussah

Salad dressing stains can be one of trickiest types of stains to get out of fabric. While most fabrics can go in the washing machine and come out good as new, silk is more delicate, making it harder to clean without spoiling the fabric.

Step 1: Blot the Stain

Carefully blot the stain with a clean, dry cloth. Do not scrub or rub the fabric, as this could damage the silk threads. Continue blotting until as much of the liquid salad dressing as possible is absorbed by the cloth.

Step 2: Soak the Garment

Mix a cup of warm water with a few drops of mild detergent and a teaspoon of white vinegar. Gently submerge the stained area of the garment in soapy solution and leave to soak for 30 minutes.

Step 3: Scrub the Fabric

Mix together a paste of baking soda and water, then spread it over the stained area. Using your fingers or a soft-bristled brush, gently rub the mixture into stain using small circular motions. Make sure to be gentle and not to use too much pressure when scrubbing fabric.

Step 4: Rinse and Dry

Rinse the stained area of the fabric under running lukewarm water, making sure to get all of the soapy mixture out of the fibers. Once you’re done rinsing, gently squeeze the garment to remove any excess moisture, then leave it to air dry.

Step 5: Iron The Fabric

Once garment is dry, use a low-medium heat setting and firmly press the stained area with a clean cloth. This will help heat set the stain and make sure that it doesn’t reappear after washing. Finally, hang up your garment and let it air dry completely before wearing it.
