Step 1: Blot the Area with a Clean Cloth

Before doing anything else, take a clean, white cloth and blot the stained area gently. Do not scrub or rub the spot; simply press down lightly and absorb as much of the dressing as you can. You may need to do this several times before you move on to the next step.

Step 2: Soak the Area In Cold Water

Next, it's time to give the area a good soaking! Fill a bowl with cold water. Add a dab of liquid detergent and mix it into the water. Place the stained area of the fabric in the bowl and let it soak for around 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, gently rub the fabric together to remove any residue from the stain.

Step 3: Apply a Spot Treatment Product

Purchase a spot treatment product made for silk. If a product specifically for silk isn't available, opt for a mild detergent instead. Be sure to test product on an inconspicuous area of the fabric first to make sure it does not cause further damage. Rub the product in gently and let it sit for 15-20 minutes. Wash the garment according to the directions with warm water and a mild detergent.

Step 4: Air Dry and Enjoy!

Finally, lay the garment flat on a towel and let it air dry. Do not put the garment in the dryer; heat can cause irreversible damage to silk. When the garment is completely dry, enjoy wearing your clean and stain-free silk chiffon dress!
