Salad dressing is delicious, but it can sometimes cause a problem if it gets onto your clothes. In particular, seersucker fabric can be challenging to clean when it gets stained with salad dressing. But with a few basic household items and right technique, you can get those pesky stains out in no time at all.
When it comes to removing salad dressing stains from seersucker, the key is to treat the stain immediately. As soon as it happens, blot away any excess liquid with a paper towel or cloth. Do not use a lot of pressure, just gently dab away moisture.
Next, mix together a gentle detergent and lukewarm water to make a solution. Apply a small amount of the detergent solution onto the stained area and gently rub it in with your fingers. Once you have rubbed detergent into the fabric, rinse it off with cold water.
If you still see traces of the salad dressing stain on the fabric, you may want to apply some ammonia to the area. Make sure that you dilute it with an equal amount of water first. Then, apply diluted ammonia to stained part of the fabric and allow it to sit for 5 to 10 minutes.
Finally, put seersucker in the washing machine. Set the machine on a delicate cycle with cold water and add a light detergent. Allow machine to finish its cycle and then hang up your seersucker to dry.
