Remove Excess Dressing with a Paper Towel and Cold Water

When you notice that salad dressing has been spilt on your Oxfords, the first step is to remove any excess from the surface. Get a dry paper towel and blot at the stained area. Make sure to blot instead of rubbing or scrubbing as this could damage delicate material. Once you have removed as much of the dressing as possible, rinse with cold water.

Treat the Stain with White Vinegar

White vinegar is great for tackling difficult stains like salad dressing. Use a clean cloth dampened with white vinegar and gently rub into stained area. If necessary, use a soft brush to help lift the stain. Leave the vinegar in place for a few minutes before blotting off with a dry cloth. You can also use white vinegar to pre-soak Oxfords by combining equal parts of vinegar and cold water in a bucket. Soak the shoes for 5-10 minutes before removing and dabbing with a cloth.

Wash with Regular Detergent

Once the stain appears to be gone, you need to give your Oxfords a good wash. Fill a bucket with warm water and add a few drops of regular detergent. Place the Oxfords carefully in water and swish them around until all the dirt and stain is gone. Once you are happy that the shoes are clean, rinse thoroughly and leave to dry.
