In Japanese culture, the highly traditional kimono is a symbol of respect and elegance. It can be quite embarrassing if it becomes stained with salad dressing. Thankfully, it's not too difficult to erase the stain – you just need to do it right.
Here are some simple steps to help you clean salad dressing stains from kimono.
When a dressing accident happens, the first thing you should do is to blot the affected area. Use a napkin or paper towel to absorb as much of the dressing as possible. This prevents the stain from spreading.
After blotting the stain, pre-treat it with a liquid laundry detergent. Apply a generous amount of detergent directly onto stain and rub it gently. Let the detergent sit for about 10 minutes.
Once you have pre-treated the stain, next step is to wash the kimono in cold water, either by hand or machine. If you use a washing machine, set the cycle to gentle or delicate. Do not use hot water or a dryer, as this can set the stain in permanently.
Once cycle is complete, check to see if the stain has been removed. If necessary, repeat the pre-treating and washing process until the stain is completely gone.
By following these steps, you'll be able to get rid of pesky salad dressing stains on your kimono quickly and easily. Of course, prevention is better than cure, so be careful while handling dressings while wearing kimono.
