How to Remove Salad Dressing Stains from a Jacket

  • Gently blot up as much of the dressing as possible with a clean white cloth, taking care not to rub or scrub it in.
  • Mix warm water and laundry detergent or dish soap to make a soap solution.
  • Apply a small amount of the soap solution directly onto the stained area.
  • Lift away the soap solution and any remaining salad dressing with a fresh, clean white cloth.
  • If the stain still remains, repeat steps 1-4.
  • Once the salad dressing is gone, rinse the area with a damp white cloth.
  • Allow the garment to dry completely before wearing.

Cautions

  • Always test out steps 3-4 on a small, hidden area of the fabric before trying it on the stain.
  • Never use a colored cloth on a colored fabric, as the dye from the cloth may transfer onto the fabric.
  • Never use hot water on a stain, as doing so may cause the stain to set in fabric.
  • Always check the garment’s care label before attempting any stain removal.
