Stains like salad dressing are best removed when they're fresh — so the moment you realize your bag has been splashed, take quick action. Blot stain with a clean cloth or tissue paper to take up as much of the dressing as possible, then proceed to the next step.
Mix 1 teaspoon of liquid dishwashing soap with 2 cups of lukewarm water. Use a clean cloth to rub the solution onto stain in a circular motion. This will loosen up greasy residue left by the salad dressing, making it easier to remove. Rinse the cloth in solution, and continue rubbing until most of the stain is gone.
Mix ¼ cup of white vinegar with ¼ cup of water and use a clean cloth to apply the mixture onto the stain. Allow it to sit for 15 minutes before rinsing the cloth and rubbing the area in a circular motion. This will help to get rid of any remaining residue and odor.
If the stain is still visible after the vinegar bath, mix 1/4 cup of hydrogen peroxide with 1/4 cup of water. Dip a toothbrush into mixture and scrub stain in a circular motion until the stain is mostly gone. Then use the damp cloth to blot the area, and leave it to dry.
If the stain persists, you may need to use a dry cleaning solvent such as Scotchgard. Apply a small amount of solvent to a clean cloth, and gently rub the area in a circular motion until the stain disappears. Follow up by blotting the area with a damp cloth, and leaving it to dry.
