If caught early, salad dressing stains can typically be removed easily with a damp cloth soaked in warm water and a bit of liquid detergent. Simply dip the cloth in the soapy solution and use it to scrub away at the stain. Make sure to use a gentle motion and not rub too vigorously, as this could cause damage to the hair clip.
If above method doesn’t work, try using white vinegar to get rid of the stain. Start by mixing equal parts of white vinegar and warm water, then soaking the hair clip in the solution for five minutes. Once five minutes is up, take a clean cloth or paper towel and use it to scrub stain away.
If neither of the above methods work on your stained cloth hair clips, try a few other solutions. First, apply a small amount of baby shampoo onto the stain, then use a damp cloth to gently scrub the area until the stain disappears. If that doesn't work, mix one tablespoon of baking soda and one teaspoon of water together to create a paste-like concoction and use that to scrub away the stain.
No one wants to go through the hassle of having to clean a hair clip stained with salad dressing, so it is best to avoid the problem altogether. When eating anything that is known to leave behind stains, make sure to cover your hair clips or remove them altogether. This will help to ensure that they don’t get stained in the future.
Cleaning a hair clip stained with salad dressing doesn’t have to be too time consuming or difficult if you know the right techniques. Using warm water, liquid detergent, white vinegar, baby shampoo and baking soda are all effective ways to remove these stains with minimal effort.
