Salad dressing or condiments such as mayonnaise or ketchup can cause stubborn stains on earplugs. The best way to remove these stains is by using a combination of dish soap and warm water. Start by soaking the earplugs in a bowl of warm water for 10-15 minutes. Then, add a few drops of liquid dish soap and gently rub the earplugs with a soft cloth or toothbrush. Rinse off the soapy mixture with warm water and let the earplugs air dry completely.
Alternatively, you can mix 1 tablespoon of white vinegar and 2 tablespoons of baking soda in a bowl of warm water to create a powerful cleaning solution. Soak the earplugs in this solution for 10-15 minutes and then use a toothbrush to gently scrub away the stains. Finally, rinse earplugs with warm water and let them air dry completely.
If the stains are still present after cleaning with soap and water or vinegar and baking soda, you can try using rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide. Add a few drops of rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide to a bowl of warm water, then soak the earplugs for 10-15 minutes and scrub them gently with a toothbrush. After that, rinse the earplugs with warm water and allow them to air dry.
It's important to avoid using harsh chemicals or scrubbing too hard, as this could damage the material of the earplugs. If the stains won't come out, it might be time to replace them completely.
