It's not unusual to drip a bit of salad dressing on your clothes when you're out enjoying a delicious dinner. But if the dressing lands on your favorite double georgette dress, you may feel like it's ruined forever. Don't worry: all is not lost! You may be able to remove the offending stains without too much difficulty.
As soon as you can, take a soft cloth and blot up as much of the dressing as possible. Be careful not to press the stain into the fabric; gently press against the area to absorb the liquid. Avoid applying any heavy rubbing or scrubbing.
Take some mild detergent and add a small amount of water until it forms a light paste. Rub the paste over the stain and allow it to sit for 10 minutes. This should help break down oily components of dressing.
Once the pre-treatment is complete, rinse the area with cold water. Run the fabric under the tap, or use a spray bottle filled with clean, cold water. Be sure to rinse the area thoroughly to remove all traces of the pre-treatment.
Fill a sink with hot, soapy water and add your garment. Allow fabric to soak in the water for 15-20 minutes. Make sure the entire piece is submerged and that stained area receives a good wash.
Once the garment has been soaked in hot water, remove it from sink and launder it as you normally would. Check the label to make sure you use correct settings and temperature. Hang the item to dry, avoiding direct sunlight.
Never do laundry again. Save time for things you ❤️
