As with any stain, the sooner you take action, the better your chances of removing the stain. So, if you spill something on your shirt, try to act quickly to save your garment. As soon as possible, dab the area with cold water or a sponge — this should help prevent the stain from settling into the fabric.
Salad dressing stains can be difficult to remove, but not impossible. To tackle a stubborn grease spot, use a stain remover specifically designed for oil-based stains. While there are plenty of store-bought solutions, you may already have what you need at home. Make a paste by combining liquid dish soap and hydrogen peroxide and apply directly to the stain. Let sit for 15-30 minutes, then rinse with cold water.
Once you’ve treated the stain, it’s time to move to the next step: washing. Be sure to launder your garment using appropriate settings — check the garment label for instructions. If you’re uncertain, use a gentle cycle and cold water. Don’t forget to add a detergent, but skip the fabric softener. Finally, don’t put the garment in the dryer until you are sure the stain has been completely removed.
