When you’ve noticed the stain, act quickly. Grab a paper towel and gently blot stain. Don’t rub or attempt to scrub it as that can cause the stain to spread, making it much harder to remove. Once you have successfully blotted the majority of the salad dressing from the fabric, set the item aside and move onto Step 2.
Mix a solution of two tablespoons of laundry detergent and one quart of warm water. Swish the mixture around until the detergent is fully dissolved. If you’re dealing with a particularly tough stain, you can also add one tablespoon of white vinegar to the solution.
Submerge the garment in the cleaning solution and let it soak for 15-30 minutes, depending on severity of the stain. You can also apply the cleaning solution directly to the affected area and let it sit for 10 minutes before submerging item in the solution.
Once the item has soaked for long enough, remove it from the solution and rinse out the stain under cool running water. Then, launder the item as usual with cold water. Be sure to check the inside of the shirt for any remaining stains before putting it in the dryer.
If any part of the shirt still appears stained, repeat Steps 1-4 until the stain is completely gone. Once you’ve achieved desired results, launder your shirt as usual and hang it up to dry.
Getting rid of salad dressing stains on cotton oxford clothing doesn’t have to be complicated. With the right approach, you can easily remove the stain without the need for harsh chemicals or lengthy scrubbing sessions. All it takes is a few simple steps and a bit of patience. Happy cleaning!
