The sooner you act to get stain out, the better. Blot the stained area with an absorbent cloth; never rub or scrub, as this can spread the stain and set it into fibres of the fabric.
Mix together a solution of liquid detergent and cool water. Apply this solution to the stain, before leaving to soak for up to thirty minutes. This helps to loosen and break down stained material, leading to more successful stain removal results further down the line.
Remove the pre-treatment from the fabric and rinse away any remaining traces. Turn the denim item inside out and machine wash at the warmest suitable temperature. Check the fabric when washing cycle has finished, and re-wash if necessary. Finally, air dry the denim item and check the stain has been removed.
