Banish Stains with Rubbing Alcohol

One of the most effective solutions for treating greasy stains such as salad dressing is rubbing alcohol. Start by diluting 1 part rubbing alcohol with 1 part water. Use a cloth or sponge to dab the solution onto the affected area, rubbing gently. You should see the grease lifting from the fabric. If necessary, repeat the process several times until the stain is gone.

Spot Treat with Mild Detergent

If the rubbing alcohol hasn't completely removed the stain, try spot treating it with a mild detergent. Wet a clean cloth or sponge with lukewarm water then add a drop of gentle laundry soap. Gently rub the stain and rinse with warm water. This should remove any remaining grease.

Treat with Baking Soda and Vinegar

Another excellent solution for removing greasy stains like salad dressing is baking soda and vinegar. Make a paste of equal parts baking soda and white vinegar then spread it onto the affected area. Let the paste sit for 15 minutes before wiping it off with a damp cloth or sponge. You should be able to easily remove the offending stain.

Launder as Normal

Once you have successfully removed the stain, it is time for laundering. Be sure to check the care label on your coat and wash it according to the instructions. If possible, use a stain remover in the wash to make sure all of the grease is gone. Finally, lay coat flat to dry or hang it on a line. Once it's dry, enjoy your stain-free coat!
