Before attempting to tackle the stain, the first step is to remove any excess salad dressing remaining on the fabric. The best way to do this is to use paper towels or a cloth napkin and carefully pat the stained area. This should soak up as much of dressing as possible without spreading the stain further.
Once the excess is absorbed, pre-treat the stain with a stain remover. Look for one that specifically addresses salad dressing and other oil-based stains. Spray or dab small amounts directly on the stain, following all instructions on label.
Once the spot has been pre-treated, it is time to properly hand wash. Fill a basin with cool water and a mild liquid detergent or a specialized stain remover. Soak the stained area in the soapy water for a few minutes before hand washing and gently rub stained area. Continue rinsing until the soap is completely gone.
Once the stain has been washed out, rinse the area with cold water. Make sure all of the soap is gone to avoid any residue left behind. After rinsing, blot the fabric with a clean, absorbent cloth to remove any remaining moisture.
The last step is air drying. Lay the piece of Chantilly lace flat on a clean cloth and let it dry naturally in a well-ventilated area. Do not try to speed up the process with a hairdryer or other device, and do not put the garment in the dryer.
