Whether you’re trying to remove mustard, Italian, or Caesar salad dressing, following these steps will help you successfully remove the stain. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Baking soda
  • Vinegar or lemon juice
  • Dishwashing liquid
  • Rubbing alcohol

Step 1: Blot Up Any Excess Dressing

Using a clean, absorbent cloth, carefully blot away any wetness caused by salad dressing. Make sure not to rub or scrub the stain as this may spread it further.

Step 2: Make a Baking Soda Paste

Mix together two parts baking soda with one part water until you have a paste-like mixture. Spread the paste over the stain and let it sit for at least an hour. This will help bring the stain to the surface and make it easier to remove.

Step 3: Rinse With Vinegar or Lemon Juice

Rinse the paste off with some vinegar or lemon juice. The acidity of the vinegar or lemon will help loosen the stain. You can also add a few drops of dishwashing liquid to the mix to help break down the stain further.

Step 4: Soak in Rubbing Alcohol

Soak the area in rubbing alcohol for 10 to 15 minutes, then rinse it out. This should help lift the stain. Repeat if necessary.

Step 5: Launder as Usual

Finally, wash the garment as usual, using your regular detergent. Make sure to check that the stain is gone before you put it in the dryer, as heat will set in any remaining stain.

Follow these steps and your cardigan should be good as new!
