The best bet for removing any type of stain is by treating it before throwing it in the wash. To pre-treat the stain, start by soaking the stained area with cold water. Then, create a mixture of one tablespoon of liquid detergent mixed with two cups of cool water. Dip a clean cloth into the cleaning solution and apply directly to the staine. Allow the soap to sit on the fabric for around five minutes.
After allowing the detergent to sit on the stained fabric, rinse the area with cold water. Repeat this process until the detergent is completely gone. Finally, begin dabbing area with a paper towel or cloth to remove the excess moisture.
To really get stain out, use a stain remover like Zout and directly apply it to the affected area. Let the remover sit on the fabric for about 10 minutes, and then rinse it with cool water.
Once you've followed the above steps, throw the item into wash with hottest water setting safe for the fabric. Make sure to use a detergent that is free of chlorine and other harsh chemicals, as these can cause fading or discoloring of the material. Once the washing cycle is finished, air dry the garment.
