Accidents happen, especially when there's food involved! Business attire is expensive and can be ruined by even the smallest of stains. Fortunately, with the right supplies and a bit of elbow grease, you can remove most stubborn food stains without having to buy new clothing. Here's how to remove those pesky salad dressing stains from your business attire.

What You'll Need:

  • Dishwashing liquid
  • Stiff brush
  • White vinegar
  • Baking soda
  • Clean cloth

Step 1: Remove Excess Salad Dressing

The first step in removing salad dressing stains is to gently blot area with a clean, dry cloth to absorb as much of liquid as possible. Do not rub the area, as this may spread the stain further. Once you've removed any excess, rinse the stained area with cold water.

Step 2: Treat with Dishwashing Liquid

Using a stiff brush, apply a small amount of liquid dishwashing detergent directly to the stained area. Gently scrub the area in circular motions until you see the stain coming off. Rinse area with cold water to remove the soap.

Step 3: Apply White Vinegar and Baking Soda

Mix equal parts white vinegar and baking soda to form a paste. Using a clean cloth, apply the paste to the stained area and let sit for 10-15 minutes. The baking soda and vinegar will break down oil in the salad dressing, making it easier to remove. Once the time has passed, use your brush to gently scrub the area. Rinse area with cold water.

Step 4: Repeat As Necessary

If the stain persists after the first treatment, repeat steps 2-3 until the stain is completely gone. If the item of clothing can be laundered, make sure to machine wash it before wear.
