Nobody likes the sight of a stained pair of board shorts—especially when it’s caused by salad dressing. Fortunately, there are a few steps you can take to get rid of those unsightly stains. Here are some tips you can use to eliminate those pesky salad dressing stains.
When it comes to salad dressing stains, taking care of them right away is key. As soon as you notice the stain, use a clean white cloth to blot at it. This will help to absorb any excess salad dressing that has yet to set in.
Using a laundry detergent, pre-treat the stained area. Make sure that you read instructions for applying detergent properly. If you are using a powdered form, pour a bit of the detergent directly onto the affected area, before using a damp cloth to gently rub it into material. If you are using a liquid form, apply a small drop of laundry detergent into a cup of water and dip the cloth into the solution before rubbing it into the stained area.
Once you have pre-treated the area with a laundry detergent, rinse out stained area with warm water. This will help to further remove any remaining residue from the salad dressing.
After you have pre-treated the stained area and rinsed it with warm water, you can put your board shorts into the washing machine. Make sure to set the water temperature to warm and choose an appropriate setting for the material. Lastly, add in the appropriate amount of laundry detergent.
Once you have washed your board shorts in washing machine, simply hang them up to dry! Do not put them in the dryer, as this can set in salad dressing stains. And voila—your board shorts will be back to their original stain-free state.
