The most natural way to treat a salad dressing stain on Battenberg lace is to use a combination of white vinegar and baking soda. Begin by blotting area with a clean cloth until you have removed as much of the dressing as possible. Then mix together equal parts white vinegar and baking soda and apply the mixture gently to the affected area, using a soft brush or your fingers. Leave the mixture for up to 10 minutes, and then rinse the fabric with cold, clean water.

You can also try using soap, though this method may require a bit more effort than first. Start by blotting the area with a clean cloth, and then apply a few drops of mild soap or laundry detergent directly onto the stain. Rub the area gently in a circular motion, and then leave it to soak for 10 - 30 minutes. Finally, rinse the fabric thoroughly with cold, clean water.

To ensure maximum effectiveness, you should always test cleaning solution on an inconspicuous area before applying it to the stained piece. It’s also best to act quickly when removing salad dressing stains — sooner you treat the fabric, the less likely it is that stain will become permanent.
