Stains are particularly common with ASICS, as material that makes up their shoes is particularly vulnerable. Because of this, you need to take extra care when removing any stains — and salad dressing residue is no different.

What You'll Need

  • Dish soap
  • White vinegar
  • Baking soda
  • Soft toothbrush
  • Soft cloths or towels
  • Stain remover (optional)

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. If possible, remove the excess dressing from shoe immediately. This can be done by carefully blotting area with a soft cloth.
  2. Mix one part dish soap with one part white vinegar in a small bowl. Dip a soft toothbrush into the mixture and lightly scrub the surface of the shoe.
  3. Once the initial cleaning is complete, sprinkle a generous amount of baking soda onto the stained area.
  4. Using the same damp toothbrush, work the baking soda into fabric of the shoe. Work in small circles until the entire area is covered.
  5. Once area is covered, let it sit for at least 15 minutes before rinsing with warm water.
  6. For tougher stains, use a pre-treater or a store-bought stain remover.
  7. Once the stain is gone, blot area with a soft cloth and let air dry.

Conclusion

Cleaning salad dressing stains off of your ASICS doesn’t have to be a nightmare. With the right ingredients, and a bit of elbow grease, you can get your ASICS looking like brand new again. And remember: if you encounter a particularly stubborn stain, pre-treaters and store-bought stain removers are your friends.
