Step 1: Blot Stain

Start by blotting stain with a clean, white cloth. Do not rub fabric—this will only push stain further into material. Instead, blot it gently until no more of salad dressing is coming off on the cloth. Continue with this step until you have removed as much of the stain as possible.

Step 2: Pretreat with Detergent

Pour a small amount of detergent on the stain. Work the detergent into the fabric using a soft-bristle brush. Be sure to blot the area with a clean, white cloth after applying the detergent.

Step 3: Rinse Stain

Once you’ve applied the detergent, rinse the stained area with cool water. You may want to use a spray bottle to make sure you cover the entire area.

Step 4: Apply Spot Treatment

If you’re still seeing signs of the stain, apply spot treatment to the area. Use a clean, white cloth to dab the area with spot treatment. Let the solution sit for about 10 minutes before rinsing it off with cool water.

Step 5: Launder the Item

When you’re finished treating the stain, launder the item as you normally would according to the care instructions. This will help to make sure that any remaining residue is removed and that your accessorie looks fresh and clean.

Other Tips

To make sure that salad dressing stains don’t set in as quickly, make sure to act quickly when they happen. The longer you wait to treat the stain, harder it will be to remove. You should also make sure to use a gentle cycle when laundering the item, so that you don’t damage the fabric.
