Oil-based salad dressing like Italian or French dressing is notorious for leaving greasy stains that can be difficult to remove. To get rid of mess, use a paper towel or cloth napkin to remove as much of the grease as possible. When it comes to washing the stained fabric, use an enzyme-based detergent and hot water. For added cleaning power, pre-treat the fabric with a little bit of dishwashing liquid before laundering.

Vinegar-based dressings, such as vinaigrette, are not as greasy, but can still leave behind a grimy residue. Before washing, dab the area with a cloth or paper towel to soak up as much of liquid as possible. Next, use a laundry presoak product and cold or warm water, then allow the fabric to soak for 30 minutes. Now, use a mild laundry detergent like Woolite and launder the garment according to the instructions set by the manufacturer.

If you’ve got a tough-to-remove stain, pretreat the fabric with a laundry spot remover and let it sit for 15 minutes. Then, wash the garment as usual. If stain is still present, repeat the process until it is gone.

Salad dressing stains can be tricky to remove, but with the right approach, you can get rid of them in no time! You will be able to enjoy your salads without worrying about nasty stains afterward.
