What You Will Need

  • Your garment or affected item
  • White vinegar
  • Lemon juice
  • Baking soda
  • Gentle laundry detergent
  • Q-tips or cotton swabs
  • A clean, soft cloth

Step 1: Prepare the Area

Before starting the stain removal process, make sure that area is prepped for cleaning. Place a towel underneath voile fabric just in case any of the cleaning solutions seep through.

Step 2: Mix a Solution

Mix equal parts white vinegar and lemon juice. If stain is particularly stubborn, you can also add a little bit of baking soda for extra cleaning power. Stir mixture until the baking soda is dissolved.

Step 3: Apply Solution

Use either a Q-tip or a cotton swab to apply solution gently to rust stain. Make sure that you only dab at the solution and do not scrub it. Gently blot the area with the swab and wait a few minutes before rinsing it off.

Step 4: Rinse and Clean the Fabric

Once the stained area has soaked in the solution for a few minutes, rinse it off with cold water. Make sure to gently pat the area with a damp cloth or sponge.

Afterwards, launder the garment as usual in the washing machine using a gentle detergent.
