  1. For small stains, create a paste by mixing 1 tablespoon of lemon juice and 1 teaspoon of salt in a bowl and mix until combined.
  2. Apply the paste directly to the stain and let it sit for 1 hour.
  3. Rinse off the paste with cold water and check to see if the rust stain has been removed.
  4. If the rust stain remains repeat steps 1-3 until the stain is gone.
  5. For large stains, purchase a rust remover that is specially designed for fabrics.
  6. Follow the instructions on the back of the remover bottle or tub and pre-treat stain.
  7. After the pre-treatment is complete, launder the item according to the instructions on the label.
  8. Remove the uniform from the washing machine and hang dry.
  9. Check to see if the rust stain has been removed.
  10. If the rust stain remains repeat steps 5-9 until the stain is gone.
