The simplest way to remove rust stains is to use a detergent solution. Mix one teaspoon of liquid dish detergent with two cups of warm water. Apply the solution to the rust stain and let it sit for approximately 15 minutes. Then, use a soft-bristled brush to gently scrub the stain away. When finished, rinse the fabric under cold water and allow it to air dry.
Lemon juice can be a natural and non-toxic option for removing rust stains. To begin, mix equal parts lemon juice and cream of tartar to create a paste. Apply the paste to the stain and let it sit for at least 30 minutes. Then, use a soft-bristled brush to scrub away the paste. Once finished, rinse the area with cold water and air dry.
If the rust stains are especially stubborn, you may find that an oxygen bleach solution works best. Start by mixing a solution of oxygen bleach powder and cold water according to the instructions on package. Let the fabric soak in the solution for at least eight hours. Then, rinse the item in cold water and air dry. If necessary, you can repeat this process until the stain is gone.
Once you’ve removed rust stains, take some preventative measures to make sure they don’t return. First, hang your Tory Burch items up after wearing them. This will help ensure that any sweat or moisture evaporates and does not cause further staining. Additionally, it’s important to be aware of the care instructions for each item. Some fabrics may require special treatments in order to prevent rusting. Lastly, keep an eye out for metal accessories such as buttons or zippers that may potentially cause rust stains.
