Rust stains can occur due to various factors, such as contact with iron pieces or an exposed metal surface. The good news is that you don't necessarily need expensive products to get rid of these tough stains! Here are our top tips for cleaning rust stains from all types of tops:
Start by mixing together equal parts lemon juice and salt. Apply the paste to the affected area using a cotton cloth. Allow the mixture to sit for 5-10 minutes, then scrub gently with a small brush. After this, rinse the surface thoroughly with clean water and dry.
Mix together a tablespoon of baking soda and a tablespoon of vinegar into a paste. Apply the paste onto the affected area and leave it on for 15 minutes. Then, use a soft sponge or brush to scrub away the rust. Rinse with cold water and dry.
Start by soaking the entire stain in white vinegar for several minutes. Then, ball up a piece of aluminum foil and rub it into the rust stain. This should help to lift the stain from the fabric. Once the rust has been removed, rinse with cold water and dry.
If the above steps don’t work, try using a commercial rust remover product. Be sure to follow manufacturer’s instructions carefully. Make sure to wear gloves, eye protection and other safety gear when handling these products. After rust has been removed, rinse thoroughly and dry.
The best way to keep your clothes rust-free is to prevent rust stains from occurring in the first place. Keep metallic surfaces and pieces away from fabrics, and treat any rust spots quickly with methods listed above.
