Tartan fabric is a traditional patterned textile made from wool, and it’s often used to make kilts and other clothing items. Rust stains can ruin the look of your tartan garments, but it’s not hopeless. Here are some tips to remove rust from tartan.

Materials Needed

  • White vinegar
  • Baking soda
  • Soft sponge
  • Cloth

Steps to Remove Rust

  1. Mix white vinegar and baking soda in equal parts. You should have enough to cover stained area.
  2. Apply the mixture directly to the rust stain and let it sit for 10-15 minutes.
  3. Moisten a soft sponge and lightly scrub the area until rust starts to fade.
  4. Rinse area with fresh water and allow it to air dry.
  5. Once the area is thoroughly dry, use a cloth or soft brush to remove any lingering rust stains.

If there is still rust residue remaining after the above steps, repeat the process until you have achieved optimal results.
